Hello Everyone
This is some exciting news to share with you! The exec put much thought and prayer into forming a vision for LCF. Please read the attachment to become more familiar with the direction LCF plans to take this year, and maybe many years to come.
LCF Vision 2011/2012
We pray that you jump on board with us and dive heart first into a community that is Deep with Jesus, Real with Each Other, and Close to the Campus.
Please keep LCF in your prayers; that we may not lose focus of the Vision God has given, that all of us continue to seek out God’s Will for our lives and LCF … and that we become one awesome, big family!

Announcements … short version!
Welcome back!!!!! Here are some of the awesome events we have planned for this semester!! Please keep checking out our fb just in case something changes 
1) Movie Night- January 6th @ 7pm
LCF presents mission peanut butter boo kitty jumper 001 (aka another movie night). Come on Friday January 6th at 7PM to bring in the New Year with a night of movies, snacks and solid memories to start off 2012! Bring your favourite snack of 2011 to share with everyone. The location is still TBD, check back soon! !

2) Large Manuscript study/Potluck- Friday January 13th @ 7pm in L239
Reading the Bible is really important, but have you actually read the Bible? Have you actually sat down and truly thought about what you were reading, asked questions and analyzed the passage? Come join us for a large manuscript study where you will have the opportunity to completely dissect, question and analysis a piece of scripture that many of you have probably seen before, but never truly read. To make it even better, it’s a potluck! Please post on the lcf fb page what you will be bringing, just so we at least have one serving of vegetables! So basically, 7 pm+ Friday January 13th+ L 239= Be There!

3) Capture the Glow stick- Friday January 20th @ 7pm in the Student Centre
Capture the flag=solid childhood memories! If you have never played this game before this is a must come to event. Come have an awesome night playing LCF’s campus wide capture the glow stick! Meet in the student centre at 7 pm- bring running shoes!

4) International Students Winter Fun Day
One of the coolest things about living in Canada is the snow that we are graced with every winter! Even though it was late this year, it is definitely still coming! Snowmobiling, snow angels, snowball fights, skating, tobogganing and building snowmen are just a few of the many amazing activities that snow brings. Come join us on January 28th at 2pm for a day full of snow activities and an opportunity to experience a true Canadian winter.

5) Small Groups Information
It’s time to get deep with Jesus and real with each other.
Mondays – 7pm in the Spiritual Life Office
Tuesdays – 730pm in the Spiritual Life Office (First Year Student Focused Small Group)
Wednesday – 6pm in the Spiritual Life Office
Our hope is that everyone will have the chance to experience and be a part of a Christ-Focused Community this year. If none of these times/dates work for you, please let us know by emailing us at lcf@laurentian.ca.

6) Fun Lunch!
Want some company at lunch?! Every Monday people from LCF will be having lunch in the Great Hall at 12pm. Look out for us on the left side of the cafeteria. Come hang out and lets break bread together! ☺ See you Monday in the Great Hall.

7) Office Hours
Stop being bored between classes and come visit us in the SLO!!!!!! Come tell jokes, eat, chill, pray or just stare at the wall. Office hours for this year are:
Monday: 1:30-4:00 (Julia)
Wednesday: 12:30-4:00 (Olvie)
Friday: 2:30-4:00 (David)

New School Year – FTW
I can’t believe school is TOMORROW! Can you? This is crazy. Sometimes I feel like 4 months isn’t enough, hahaha
If school is starting tomorrow, this means that it is a new year for LCF too! ( This we are very excited about! Whoot Whoot!) Keep following us to be up to date on news and events! LCF Exec is meeting today We have all had busy summers and got together a couple times to plan the year out for yous. Now it’s time to finalize all little details and get ready for an amazing time! I will keep you posted on how it goes. We are all so stoked to be seeing you all again and can’t wait to meet new people!

Let us tell you… that things are going to be different come September! Different – but GOOD! The post on Community wasn’t just a fluke – oh no! But something we are seriously focused on for the fall. We are stoked to see God move and grow and shape LCF. Events, prayer, friendships, small group…. everything – FOCUSED! It’s time to build a sincere, authentic, organic, Jesus-centered community and family!

Wrestling with Community

WHEN WE BEGIN TO wrestle with what it means to live in community, we are wrestling with what it would look like to be honest, vulnerable and transparent with other believers. To be really forthcoming, as much as I hope for that type of community and work toward it in my own life, sometimes the idea scares the heck out of me. I think it is there, in the tension of my own struggle, that I recognize the real issue: If the Church is going to stay relevant and engaged in our culture, we need to figure this community thing out.I find that the intimate sharing with old friends comes from a familiarity and trust built through years of knowing-but it pales in comparison to the eternal story that we share with our fellow believers. What could happen if through prayer and commitment we allowed those we worshiped with, maybe those we were starting a new small group with, that same level of trust and intimacy? I believe that is the type of transparency the Gospel is calling us to- to recognize that we are people of an eternal story. We are old friends.Ultimately, the key to intentional Christian community begins with intentional transparency.
